Pretty in Purple 💜

For centuries, historians and jewellery lovers alike have been enchanted by the mysterious beauty of Amethyst, the official birthstone of February and Pisces.

It was as valuable as Ruby and Emerald, until the 1800s when more Amethyst was found in the country of Brazil.

It is the most valuable quartz gem and today, many kinds of jewellery are made from Amethyst.

A member of the Mineral Quartz family, Amethyst radiates a wide array of gorgeous purple hues ranging from lilac to deep violet.

Amethyst is associated with spirituality, sobriety, security and wisdom.

It's name is derived from the Greek word ametusthos, meaning “not intoxicated", and throughout history, the special virtue of Amethyst has been that of preventing drunkenness and overindulgence.

It is also said to sharpen the mind and vision, and to keep away bad thoughts.

A lady from the office was kind enough to give this beaut to me for my Birthday back in January!
